Hackney Town Hall on a bright sunny day

The opportunity

Work that improves homes, buildings and resident services

Hackney is building teams across housing, property, safety, compliance, repairs delivery and resident support. These roles are connected by practical public-service outcomes: safer homes, stronger services and better places for people to live and work.

What this campaign covers

A broad programme, not a single team

This campaign brings together senior leadership, specialist technical roles, project delivery, compliance, repairs delivery, resident liaison and support services. It is about the whole system of work behind safe, well-managed homes and public buildings.

That breadth is what makes the opportunity interesting. Candidates could be shaping asset strategy, delivering capital works, improving compliance, managing risk, strengthening data and processes, supporting residents through works, or helping teams build the capability they need for the long term.

From strategy to resident impact

The role groups are different, but they form one connected chain of work across homes, buildings and services.

  1. 1

    Understand the assets

Use data, surveys, resident insight and professional judgement to understand condition, risk, investment need and service priorities.

  2. 2

    Plan and prioritise

Turn evidence into programmes, budgets, procurement plans, compliance activity and practical service improvements.

  3. 3

    Deliver safely and well

Coordinate specialists, contractors, operational teams and resident-facing services so work is delivered to the right standard.

  4. 4

    Keep residents informed

Make sure residents, leaseholders and service users understand what is happening, why it matters and how issues will be resolved.

  5. 5

    Repairs and Maintenance

These services are unified by practical public-service outcomes, aimed at creating safer homes, stronger services, and better environments for residents to live in, delivered by a strong in-house workforce and supported by external contractors.

  6. 6

    Improve the service

Learn from delivery, complaints, audits, performance data and changing regulations so the service keeps getting stronger.
