Leadership and service management
Senior and head of service roles setting direction, managing risk and keeping complex services joined up across the whole function.
The opportunity
Hackney is building teams across housing, property, safety, compliance, repairs delivery and resident support. These roles are connected by practical public-service outcomes: safer homes, stronger services and better places for people to live and work.
What this campaign covers
This campaign brings together senior leadership, specialist technical roles, project delivery, compliance, repairs delivery, resident liaison and support services. It is about the whole system of work behind safe, well-managed homes and public buildings.
That breadth is what makes the opportunity interesting. Candidates could be shaping asset strategy, delivering capital works, improving compliance, managing risk, strengthening data and processes, supporting residents through works, or helping teams build the capability they need for the long term.
The role groups are different, but they form one connected chain of work across homes, buildings and services.
1
Use data, surveys, resident insight and professional judgement to understand condition, risk, investment need and service priorities.
2
Turn evidence into programmes, budgets, procurement plans, compliance activity and practical service improvements.
3
Coordinate specialists, contractors, operational teams and resident-facing services so work is delivered to the right standard.
4
Make sure residents, leaseholders and service users understand what is happening, why it matters and how issues will be resolved.
5
These services are unified by practical public-service outcomes, aimed at creating safer homes, stronger services, and better environments for residents to live in, delivered by a strong in-house workforce and supported by external contractors.
6
Learn from delivery, complaints, audits, performance data and changing regulations so the service keeps getting stronger.
Role families
The campaign spans five broad areas, all connected by the shared goal of delivering safer, better-managed homes and services for Hackney residents.
Senior and head of service roles setting direction, managing risk and keeping complex services joined up across the whole function.
Technical and assurance roles covering building safety, fire, asbestos, legionella, gas, electrical, lift and mechanical compliance, with resident safety at the centre.
Asset management, capital delivery, programme monitoring, surveying and technical inspection, turning investment priorities into well-delivered improvements.
Resident liaison, leasehold communication, complaints, casework, procurement, training, audit and business support, connecting delivery with the people who depend on it.
Energy, sustainability, performance, telecoms and digital infrastructure roles supporting more efficient buildings and better information across the portfolio.
Political leadership
The Mayor and cabinet members set the political direction for the Council, including housing, regeneration, climate, communities and resident services. Candidates joining at a senior level will have regular access to elected Members and their priorities will shape the work.
